[Multicultural News] Incheon City hands out Childcare Relief Funds to the children of foreign residents

Incheon City provides Childcare Relief Funds of 100,000 won to each child raised at home among the children of foreign residents.

Earlier, Incheon City decided to enact a support ordinance and provide Childcare Relief Funds to support infants and toddlers who are in social and economic childcare disasters due to the prolonged COVID-19.

However, 2,750 children of foreign residents raised at home were excluded from the application.

Accordingly, on the 20th of last month, the city amended the Foreign Residents and Multicultural Families Support Ordinance and decided to provide Childcare Relief Funds to children of foreign residents.

The target of support is preschool children born between January 1, 2015, and October 31, 2021, who do not attend daycare centers or kindergartens and are raised at home. Foreign parents can apply if they have lived in Incheon City for more than 91 days and completed alien registration before August 31, 2021. Applications will be accepted until the 19th of this month.

Children who attend kindergartens and daycare centers and receive support from the education recovery subsidy from the Office of Education and the Incheon City are excluded.

The childcare Relief Funds for children of foreign residents must be applied for individually by visiting the eup/myeon office or dong administrative welfare center under the jurisdiction of the place of alien registration.

[다문화 뉴스] 인천시, 외국인 주민 자녀에게 재난지원금 1인당 10만원 지급

인천광역시는 외국인 주민 자녀 중 가정에서 양육하는 아동에게 1인당 10만원씩 ‘보육재난지원금’을 지급한다.

앞서 인천시는 코로나19 장기화로 사회·경제적 보육재난에 처한 영유아 등에게 보육재난지원금을 지원하기 위해 지원 조례를 제정하고 보육재난지원금을 지급하기로 결정했다.

그러나 가정에서 양육하는 외국인 주민 자녀 2천750여명은 지원 대상에서 제외됐었다.

이에 시는 지난달 20일 ‘외국인주민 및 다문화가족 지원 조례’를 개정하고 외국인주민 자녀에게도 보육재난지원금을 지원하기로 했다.

지원대상은 2015년 1월 1일부터 2021년 10월 31일 사이에 태어난 미취학 아동으로 어린이집 또는 유치원을 다니지 않고 가정에서 양육하는 아동이다. 외국인 부모가 인천시 관내에 91일 이상 거주하고 2021년 8월 31일 이전에 외국인등록을 완료했다면 신청이 가능하다. 신청 접수는 오는 19일까지 진행된다.

교육청의 교육회복지원금과 인천시 보육재난지원금을 지원 받는 유치원 및 어린이집을 다니는 아동은 대상에서 제외된다.

외국인 주민 자녀 보육재난지원금은 외국인등록지 관할 읍ㆍ면사무소 및 동 행정복지센터에 방문해 개별 신청을 해야 하며, 아동 1인당 10만원씩 11월 말경 신청 계좌로 지급 완료할 계획이다.
